Giant Blog Posts

When it comes to writing Giant Blog posts, we need to understand three things:

  1. What are they?
  2. Why we need to write such huge blog posts?
  3. What should they include?

What Are They?

Simply put these ‘Giant Blog Posts’ are exactly what they sound like –  blog posts that are between 2000-3000 words.

Why we need to write such huge blog posts?

The Giant blog post confirms you as an expert in your niche, it shows you can not only provide answers to regular questions using answer posts but that you can go big and in-depth because you have the knowledge within your field.

What should they include?

You need to include more in-depth information compared to response posts, items such as graphs, detailed images, bullet points, numbered lists or statistics are all going to provide your reader with the valuable information they are after.

The Process.

Here is my process of writing a giant blog post.

Understand the Goal of the Post. It is very easy to lose track of what you are actually writing about when taking on a giant blog post, I therefore always write my conclusion first – what is the goal of the post?

Is it to attract more customers? make a sale? grow your list?

Choose the Right Topic: Select a topic that is relevant to your blog’s niche and one that your target audience will find valuable. Consider addressing a common problem, providing a comprehensive guide, or exploring an in-depth aspect of your industry.

Outline the Content: Create a detailed outline for your blog post. Organize the main points you want to cover and create subheadings for each section. This will give you a clear structure to follow during the writing process.

Think about your topic and how many sub-headings you need to break it down into – don’t go too micro I would say 3-5 sub-headings is a good starting point.

Gather Information and Data: Conduct thorough research to gather information, data, and examples to support your points. Use reputable sources and cite them appropriately.

Start Writing: Begin writing your blog post following the outline you created. Aim for clarity, coherence, and readability. Use subheadings, bullet points, and numbered lists to break up the text and make it easier for readers to follow.

Provide Value and Insights: Focus on providing valuable insights and actionable information to your readers. Go beyond the surface and delve into the intricacies of the topic.

Add Personal Examples and Stories: Whenever possible, share personal experiences or stories to make the content more relatable and engaging.

Edit and Revise: After completing the first draft, review your blog post for clarity, grammar, and coherence. Edit ruthlessly to refine your points and ensure the content flows smoothly.

Proofread: Carefully proofread the entire post for spelling and grammar errors. Consider using grammar-checking tools or ask a colleague to review it for you.

Add Internal and External Links: Include relevant internal links to other articles on your blog and external links to credible sources that support your claims.

Format for Readability: Ensure the blog post is well-formatted with short paragraphs, subheadings, bullet points, and bolded text to highlight important points.

Publish and Promote: Once you’re satisfied with your giant blog post, publish it on your blog. Promote it on your social media channels and through your email newsletter to reach a wider audience.

Conclusion.

And there you have it – your step by step guide on how to write a well structered giant blog post.
